Home🙏✨ The final day of the Winter Wonder Photo Challenge

I returned to my apartment after a few days away with family to find these blooming in the window. Quite the welcoming committee

Somewhere there is a behemoth list of Christmas cookies that I was going to bake & deliver to everyone I love. It was going to be epic! But time & energy did not allow for it. The folks at central market have been baking their buns off though.. Winter Wonder Photo Challenge Day 9 - Baking

Under the weather & not running around much with my camera - I have fallen behind on the Winter Wonder Photo challenge.. but it got me looking at years past & that is a gift. Lovely Sparkles & community on Soltice..

Day 5 of the Winter Wonder Photo Challenge & the prompt is Beard. This great shot of Santa at the 13th Annual Museum of Human Achievement Christmas Show was taken by @wiggitywhitney 🎅🏻 ‘Twas the biggest beard Iof the year✨

12 Days of Winter Wonder Photo Challenge by Micro.blog: Dec 15 — Frost

I am excited to begin this photo challenge! That said, frost has not arrived in Texas just yet… We got close to freezing last night but, not quite. So.. the faux icicles on my Christmas tree are as close as we get for today!

I got some face to face time with Santa. Our conversation gravitated towards slaying & sleighs. He did not disappoint! 🎅🏻🎁🚗💅🏻

Fall in Texas has echos of spring. I picked this tiny bouquet for a friend as I walked to meet her for dinner. It turned my little journey into a scavenger hunt that ended with her smile and some very good cauliflower soup. 💐

Today a friend found a hag stone while we were wandering through a dried up river bed. A good omen. They are a symbol of good luck and protection… perhaps even a portal to the spiritual realms.

Made a little custom tea blend for myself to welcome autumn. It’s Honey bush, Chamomile, Cinnamon, Clove & Catnip. Warm, cozy, relaxing & naturally sweet. I’m calling it.. Fuzzy Sweater 🍁🫖

Took a walk to clear my head and foraged some Texas sage, Turks cap & chile pequin. 🌿

Stopped by a Halloween Market this weekend & really got into the spirit of things.

It’s been a busy few weeks. In the quieter moments I have been making simple collages. It pushes so many buttons.. hunting, gathering, puzzling things together.. It’s very satisfying with minimal effort.

This little street cat has become a regular figure in my life.. He shows up everyday day for treats and pets - sometimes he comes in for a nap. I call him Baby & he answers to it. My neighbors all have their own name for him. This has me reconsidering what it means for cats to have nine lives.

This weekend I saw a screening at The State Theater of A Savage Art - The Life & Cartoons of Pat Oliphant. For me it hit every note and I left feeling inspired. I had of course seen his work before but now I recognize his influence in so many other artists work. Clever & cutting, dark and inky.. Pat’s work nearly confetti’s across the screen throughout the film. Truly prolific. This man spent 60 years of his life excelling at showing the world it’s shadow. One frame at a time. Check it out if you feel distressed by the current state of the world.. or if you want a fantastically unique history lesson. I also highly recommend this to any artist who has fallen out of practice. asavageart.com

Equinox Picnic..

We lounged on blankets under a big tree, snacking on fresh berries, plum clafoutis & melty ice cream. We were sweating & fanning ourselves with disposable plates - it didn’t feel much like fall.. yet! Once we finished eating we circled up & held hands in gratitude for the time together. That’s when the wind picked up & the temperature dropped. It was like magic! Happy Fall!
